Marlborough, New Zealand
Within the picturesque Taylor and Opawa rivers lies Blenheim – Marlborough’s main town. Blenheim offers great cafes, galleries and the region’s world famous wineries, only a stone’s throw away. Head into the Wairau Valley to nearby vineyards and cellar doors for a taste of Marlborough’s flagship Sauvignon Blanc, along with award winning aromatics, pinot noir and sparkling wine.
Blenheim is also home to the world-class Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre which features Sir Peter Jackson’s Knights of the Sky, a personal collection of WW1 aircraft and rare memorabilia. The newly opened Dangerous Skies, a WW2 Exhibition which expands the same experience into the WW2 era.
Nearby lies Picton, a beautiful port town with access to the Queen Charlotte Sound where your free to explore island bird sanctuaries, view protected wildlife or take to the Queen Charlotte Track by bike or foot. There are numerous ways of seeing Queen Charlotte Sound, either by kayak or mail boats, however we recommend taking the Seafood Odyssey Cruise and sampling fresh Seafood including Marlborough Salmon paired with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. There are also a range of accommodation, luxurious resorts and restaurants.
While in the Havelock, Pelorus and Kenepuru Sounds lies the Greenshell Mussel capital of the world. Experience further cruising options sampling fresh mussels with paired wine.
